Question by marasmom86: I need to find a simple bookkeeping program that uses a columnar pad format.?
My husband is self employed, and I do his bookkeeping. I need to find a program that is able to be easily customized. The programs I tried, quickbooks and peachtree, seem too complicated. He doesn’t keep an inventory, or have a lot of equipment. I just need something that will let me enter invoices from purchases, and income from some sales but mostly labor and commissions.

A simple and easily customized program would be one that you create yourself.
You can use MS Office’s Excel program to customize what you need. You can insert mathematical equations to “automatically” calculate figures for you.
If you don’t have excel, then search for “open office.” It’s a totally free freeware from the GNU Project that is similar to MS Office.
