What is the best approach to approach accounting and Bookkeeping Double Entry?
In accounts when you are doing debits or credits do you look at it from the aspect of PEARLS. Purchases, Expenses, Assets Being Debits and Revenue, Liabilities, Sales and Capital Credit? Or is it a case of money in and money out? Or some other way? What is the best way to do beginning Accounts- Bookkeeping?
Look at it this way.
There are 5 types of accounts: Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Income, & Expense. (Note that Income and Expense accounts are really subsidiary accounts of Equity)
The first and last type carry debit balances, and the others carry credit balance. So A & E have Debit balances. All others carry credit balances. All accounts can have debit or credit transactions, but the balance in the account determines its place on the Balance Sheet.
